Today is the summer solstice. It brings great joy to all buffalonians with presumably the end of winter. Not. It can snow in Buffalo, NY during any season of the year. Along with loads of fun, sunshine, and fitness advocates comes thee allergiesss!
Normally, we visit my favorite little health food spot up the street to get a hot shot. Well sometimes visiting my favorite spots add up in cost so I started making my own hot shots. Up until today when I realized we were out of almost every ingredient to make a hot shot. So I got crafty and created a hot tea version of the amazing shot. I love my teas!
Hot shots are great because they naturally combat allergies because of the powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects from the ginger and tumeric. The honey is an anti-microbial and a cough supressant. The cayenne contains capsaicin which helps nasal congestion and stuffiness.
I’ve included recipes for both the shot and the tea. They may look weird but I promise you they work. My fiance said so.
